Ferry service captain

Where will you be working? You will be working for a company that operates the ferry service in Rotterdam. With 13 vessels and 20 stops, they sail daily between Rotterdam and Dordrecht and within the Drechtsteden. Each year they carry around 1.75 million passengers, making them the largest public transport network on the water in the Netherlands. In 2012 our client received a score of 8.3 in the public transport customer barometer (OV-klantenbarometer), making it the best public transport in the Netherlands. Every day our client sails with 9 vessels, carrying around two million passengers a year. A rewarding task, because it offers commuters and pupils fast and comfortable daily transport, gives people with disabilities the opportunity to travel entirely independently, and offers the growing stream of tourists in our region an easy way to visit the most beautiful spots.

On board, you have final responsibility for the safety of the vessel, and therefore also for your colleagues and the passengers. Are you the Captain who knows how to steer the right course?

• You hold a boatmaster's licence (groot vaarbewijs), radar patent and marine radio certificate (strict requirement)
• You are a strong communicator and a team player, and hospitality is high on your list of priorities.
• You live in Rotterdam or the immediate area, because you must be able to be on site within an hour; otherwise there is no point in applying!

• Salary in line with the collective labour agreement (CAO);
• 36-hour working week;
• Fixed duty roster;
• This is a full-time, long-term job with the prospect of a contract
